Wood with Wood - Interior design trend

We are a couple of months into the new year, a new year that like many others, invites to change and a fresh start and do some redecorating. Our philosophy at Beslag Online is - that it does not take much to get a fresh start nor make a change, but what kind of change should you invest in? That is almost the hardest part, let's make it a little easier for you.

This year we have spotted some trends with the help of interior designer Caisa Leifsdotter. Caisa is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she has her own design studio - Caia Leifsdotter Design Studio.
With a creative approach, Caisa combines function with appearance and is happy to use historical and architectural elements in her interior.

- I LOVE vintage and always see great potential in giving new life to something old. There are so many simple tricks to use to give older furniture a new function or a new look. Many older furniture is made of fantastic materials, it is a shame to replace them and not let them live on just because trends change. A change of handles or knobs can make just the change that allows a dresser or kitchen cabinets live on, says Caisa.

In the coming weeks, we will share the trend research that Caisa has created together with Beslag Online. First out is the trend where we draw inspiration from nature and is a trend that is significant for Scandinavian modernism. We call it "Wood with wood".

- Using materials that have a natural pattern creates a living environment. Combining different types of wood is not something to be afraid of, it creates a soft and lovely environment. Let wood be the common thread. Different types of wood with veins create a unique environment, no knob or handle is the same.

Modernism is a clear source of inspiration for today's interior design trends. It is expressed through our stripped-down environments and geometric architecture. The style that came during the 1920s meant that the architecture shifted focus from decorative and ornate facades to focus on functionality, which also affected the interior. The Scandinavian touch on this style is the material choices. Using natural materials and wood as a complement to a stripped environment gives a soft impression among the hard and plain.

Instructions on how to take care of wooden handles and knobs

Wood is a living material and can differ both in color and structure, since all trees are completely unique, each product from the tree also has its own design. You can therefore never find the structure and grain that are exactly identical to another handle, which makes the wooden handles and our knobs in wood so unique. The material is durable and grateful when it is shaped into handles and only gets more beautiful over the years. All wooden handles and wooden knobs are designed in Scandinavian woods.

Most of our wood products are lacquered and should therefore not be cleaned with any strong detergent, but it is sufficient to wipe the handles or knobs with a damp cloth. We also have fittings in untreated wood and then it is enough to wipe with a dry cloth. If the wood has become dirty, it can be sanded with a fine sandpaper and lighter dirt can usually be removed with a regular eraser.
